Where are my Roots of Optimism

Where are my Roots of Optimism Where are my roots of optimism? Harry S. Truman said some beautiful words, ”A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties.” My roots of optimism are with my family, they give me all the hope and confidence to do everything. There are things that you know are hard and think to yourself that I cannot do it, that’s when you need these pillars of hope that tells you “No, You Can”. I believe Optimism starts with a simple thing in my family. As soon as I get home my mother asks me and my sister “Tell me something good that happened today”. Which sets us for other positive things in life. Like my singing. I had the notion that I had a voice of a nightingale, until one day my sister came knocking at my door and said,” Please stop singing all the birds are running away and all the neighbors are trying to sell their houses.”Honestly I am not that bad. I asked my...

No Cars on Streets

Image
Major city centers should not have cars in big cities because biking or walking is better and it has many health benefits. In the text, it states Pro/Con.org “...travel by bicycle instead of by car experience health benefits.” To explain in future detail doing other physical activity is good for the environment and less noisy. There are so many ways you can get to places it doesn't have to be by car. There are other issues to consider before going by car in major cities. Major city centers should not have cars in big cities because we need more people to use public transportation. In the text, it states in Pro/Con.org,”...transportation system desperately needs more money…” The real issue is public transportation is in need of money from the government. Also in Washington, D.C.’s metro need massive safety reinforcement. That is to say, public transportation needs more people to use them. If more people use public transportation may be the government would decide to invest in p...

World of Water

Water Essay- World of Water “We never know the worth of water till the well is dry”- Thomas Fuller The whole world has been thinking for last three decades that we are facing an uncertain energy future, but we ignored a bigger crisis which is water. It seems that we have abundant water, clean water and we will never run out of it, but we will very soon. People do make a point that water is limitless as it cannot be destroyed after it is being used, it just gets dirty. It can be reused. There are plenty of wastewater recycling and saltwater desalination plants. They can produce as much water as we like which will be clean and portable. Scientists have demonstrated how water can be pulled from air from deserts if need be. The essence of the problem is that fresh water requires energy and money (to build and run the water treatment plants). As of now, Countries don’t want to spend a lot of money to produce fresh water. Access to water is considered as a basic human right, s...

The Bike Ride to the Golden Gate Bridge

Image
"Oh I just can't wait to go biking," said my friend Alex. "Girl you need to chill," I replied. "We came from Georgia all the way to California to do this," said Alex. "Here girls we have Tandem bike ready," said one of the guys from the bike rental place. "I call the front," said Alex as she darted towards the bike. "Alright, you girls should take a test drive on the Tandem bike," said my dad.      "I am going to ride this bike in speed," said Alex. "Oh brother we haven't ever ridden a Tandem bike before shouldn't we go slow at first," I said. "Alright Ms. Serious I'll go slow at first," replied Alex. As we started pedaling our bike and we completely got out of hand. The bike started turning left and right when we were supposed to stay straight it was like the bike was trying to fight against us or it had a mind of its own. "Girls I think you both should get an individ...

Wind Energy But Why???

Image
We live in the times where there is a constant demand for energy. The planes we fly in, the trains we travel, the electricity we use...each and everything we do we are using some kind of energy. Basic thing as water coming to your house is pumped up by pumps to bigger water tanks so that it can reach you. The gas in the nearest gas station to fuel up your car comes in tankers that in itself are driven by fuel (how ironic). But there is always a question that one day we are going to run out of the fossil fuel that we heavily depend on (Gas). What will we do then? Scientists started looking into alternate ways to generate energy and we have various ways of doing that for example, Geothermal Energy, Hydrogen Energy, Tidal Energy, Wave Energy, Hydroelectric Energy, Biomass Energy.  They are all different ways to create the energy. But one very interesting and different source of energy is Wind Energy . It uses the wind to create energy.       The...

What the World Gains from Optimism

Image
Optimism changes lives!      Optimism is a character trait which many people have. Some people are pessimists, this means they will find a problem with every situation. While many choose to be in the dark, optimists choose to see every challenging situation in a new light. The world gains an immense amount from optimism… From people to technologies to hope there is no sight for what optimism can bring.  Being optimistic is the key to life!     Optimism and world peace go hand in hand. We always need optimistic people to change the world. If there was no Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, or Martin Luther King Jr. this would be a very different world right now. For example, let's take Martin Luther King Jr. he was so optimistic, and he kept fighting for African-Americans rights. If these people were not optimistic we would not be living in the world we are living in right now. All these world leaders fought for a cause, and they changed t...
