World of Water

Water Essay- World of Water

“We never know the worth of water till the well is dry”- Thomas Fuller

The whole world has been thinking for last three decades that we are facing an uncertain energy future, but we ignored a bigger crisis which is water. It seems that we have abundant water, clean water and we will never run out of it, but we will very soon.

People do make a point that water is limitless as it cannot be destroyed after it is being used, it just gets dirty. It can be reused. There are plenty of wastewater recycling and saltwater desalination plants. They can produce as much water as we like which will be clean and portable. Scientists have demonstrated how water can be pulled from air from deserts if need be.

The essence of the problem is that fresh water requires energy and money (to build and run the water treatment plants). As of now, Countries don’t want to spend a lot of money to produce fresh water. Access to water is considered as a basic human right, so it should be cheap if not free.

The recent “Mad Max” movie shows a world where civilization has collapsed and crazies are fighting oversupply of gasoline. But inferencing from the latest scientific studies, the resource that we actually may be fighting over in future is water.

So we need to protect and preserve water and the first step to is for people to become more economical. If they control how they use water at least while washing dishes or brushing their teeth, they can save huge amounts of water. There are different water-saving technologies, such as low-flow shower heads and toilets, raw water flushing, automatic faucet, and many other smart devices, which were invented specifically for saving water. Our rivers and Oceans are getting polluted by industries that throw their waste directly in them.

Large plants and factories have to control their emissions and assume measures to provide them with the appropriate equipment, which helps to reduce the emissions.

Every year, 22nd March is celebrated as World Water Day to create awareness about the urgency and need to make clean drinking water and good sanitation and hygiene facilities available to all. Every year it focuses on a special theme and the theme for World Water Day 2017 is 'Why Waste Water?'. It encourages us to reduce water wastage and also reuse wastewater. We're celebrating by spreading the message. We use large amounts of water for numerous purposes from bathing to cleaning and cooking.

“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”- Robert Swan
