Imagine a World Without Boundaries

Boundaries, this word brings out pictures of border walls, barbed wires, countries on a map and the oppression faced by many because of social stigma about the things they can or cannot do.

Personal boundaries that are set by you an individual help to define you by outlining likes and dislikes. They include physical, mental, psychological and spiritual boundaries, involving beliefs, emotions, intuitions, and self-esteem.

These boundaries set by us limit us from reaching a higher goal. Our brain is capable of much more than we use it for. A typical individual uses as little as 10 percent of their mental capabilities. Now what about the boundaries that are set by others for us, should we be abiding by it?

Look at what happened in Iran. Iran before the Islamic Revolution of 1979 was quite a different country from the one we see today. It was secular, Western-oriented and allowed a fair amount of cultural freedom. After the revolution, Iran turned into an Islamic state abiding the Sharia law. This not only changed the country’s foreign relations, political climate, and economy but also the lives of common people, not to mention how it changed the women’s role in the new society.

Stephen Hawking was diagnosed with motor neuron disease which gradually paralyzed him over decades? But it did not stop him from becoming the best theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author the world has ever seen.

Many people have been able to defy the odds like Mala Yousafza.  Before she became the great activist she used to be the young girl that stood up for what she believed in. She risked her life to be educated. Even after the Taliban told her she can’t go to school. She refused to stay silent. She refused for them to put a boundary on her. She didn’t allow even the scariest people to limit her. Mala offers an inspiring message of determination and hope.

A more literal form of boundaries would be Berlin Wall, DMZ, the Radcliffe Line, international borders… this is what our society knows as borders. Once the Berlin Wall was demolished. The "fall of the Berlin Wall" paved the way for German reunification.

India Pakistan is one of the most sensitive borders in the World. They were one country before they were divided. How great would it be if they were still one and united? So many wars could have been avoided which resulted in the death of so many soldiers and civilians.
UNITED WE STAND AND DIVIDED WE FALL.

While some of these borders are keeping us safe most are just driving a line between the countries when we can live in peace. Since when did lines on a piece of paper define how we live our lives. Imagine living freely among one another not having to worry about their nationality or ethnicity. We are missing the picture. We are missing interacting with one another. We are all humans, aren’t we??? So what do you say?? Do we imagine this peaceful world without boundaries or we continue to live the way we do?? I’ll leave that up for you to decide.
