      "Sweetie come downstairs, you do not want to get late for your first day at your guitar lesson," said my mom.  "I will be there in just a minute," I said as I put on my clothes. As I sat sluggishly in the back of my dad's car I thought of how great the guitar lesson might turn out to be.        "Honey, are you excited? Some people came from Europe, some from Russia, India, some from China and many from many other countries. That is why the United States is called the melting pot. This means America is filled with many different people and cultures. Immigrants face many different problems when they come to the United States. Immigrants come to America to live freely, find a job and practice religion freely. Immigrants face problems like learning English, racism at work, racism at school, and especially employment. Optimism changes lives!      Optimism is a character trait which many people have. Some people are pessimists, this means they will find a problem with every situation. While many choose to be in the dark, optimists choose to see every challenging situation in a new light.
